CCT 486/586 Upgrade CPU
Description
The CCT 486/586 Upgrade CPU consists of the CCT 5 volt to 3.45 volt Adapter, AMD CPU Chip, and Heatsink/Fan Assembly. It is intended for use on older 486 motherboards designed for former generation CPU's requiring 5 volt supply voltage, enabling the use of the new 3.45 volt processors. The CCT Upgrade CPU contains sophisticated switching diode matrix based circuitry for steady, precise voltage regulation. About the same length and width as a 486DX CPU, the assembled Kit stands about 1 1/4" high.
Manufactured by CCT and recommended by AMD, the 586-100/133 Upgrade CPU plugs into any 486DX capable 168 pin, 169 pin, or ZIF socket. In addition to regulating the CPU supply voltage, pinout differences between CPU and motherboard are handled, and on-board mode jumpers are provided for CPU mode switching. Available modes are clock-double, clock-triple, clock-quadruple, write-through cache, write-back cache, and Overdrive emulation, to accomodate the 486 or 586 CPU on almost any 486 motherboard.
The well-thought design uses gold plated pins and premium quality pc-board material for super reliability. Critical manufacturing tolerances are employed and a multi-stage testing and quality control program ensures product consistency and quality.
